The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has cut the price of diesel by Ksh.5 per litre.

However, prices of Super Petrol and Kerosene will remain unchanged. The new pump prices will take effect from midnight.

In Nairobi, a litre of diesel will now cost Ksh.217.86. Meanwhile, Super Petrol will remain at Ksh.214.03 per litre.

Kerosene will also retain its current price of Ksh.191.38 per litre.

Government Offers Fuel Support

EPRA said it kept the prices of petrol and kerosene unchanged due to government support. The fuel stabilization program will provide an additional Ksh.938 million.

According to the regulator, the new prices include Value Added Tax (VAT). EPRA said it applied the rates under the relevant tax laws and regulations.

“The prices are inclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT), in line with the VAT Act, 2013,” EPRA said.

Diesel Price Falls as Import Costs Drop

EPRA linked the latest changes to movements in the cost of imported fuel.

The average landed cost of Super Petrol increased by 6.99 per cent. It rose from US$836.92 per cubic meter in June to US$894.92 in July 2026.

However, diesel recorded a sharp drop in import costs. Its average landed cost fell by 13.08 per cent, from US$984.37 to US$855.59 per cubic meter.

Kerosene also became cheaper to import during the period. Its landed cost dropped by 11.01 per cent, from US$1,028.17 to US$915.01 per cubic meter.

As a result, EPRA reduced the diesel pump price. At the same time, government support helped keep petrol and kerosene prices unchanged.
