Lawyer Angela Mulwa has been re-arrested at the Milimani Law Courts and is expected to face a murder charge in connection with the death of Dr Victoria Thunya Mutiso.
Mulwa is set to be charged alongside her mother, Rose Mbithe Mulwa, also known as Rose Mbithe Ndetei, and Chris Mulwa.
According to the charge sheet, the three are accused of killing Dr Victoria Thunya Mutiso on July 29, 2026, at approximately 9:30am along Mawensi Road in Kilimani, Nairobi County.
Prosecutors allege that the suspects committed the offense jointly with other individuals who have not yet been brought before the court.
Court Rejects Further Detention
Mulwa had previously been held by police as detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding Dr Mutiso’s death. The State had requested additional time to keep her in custody, saying investigations were still underway and that case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for a decision on possible charges.
However, the court on Monday rejected the DPP’s request to extend Mulwa’s detention.
Her lawyer, Danstan Omar, opposed the application and raised concerns over the court’s jurisdiction to grant the prosecution’s request.
Suspects Expected in Court on Tuesday
Following her re-arrest, Mulwa is expected to be arraigned alongside the other suspects on Tuesday, when prosecutors are expected to present the murder charge before the court.
The Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) has been probing the circumstances surrounding Dr Mutiso’s death as authorities seek to establish the events leading to the incident.
